De Roep van de Kinkhoorn
Bart Visman and Paul Biegel

Composer Bart Visman and librettist Paul Biegel created in 2003 the opera “De Roep van de Kinkhoorn”. This opera in two acts was written for a young audience.  For this production I designed the sets and costumes. It’s a story about a girl living in a small traditional fishing village searching for het missing father. She travels around the world to find him. The design of the costumes is based on traditional Dutch folklore wear.
It was conceived for Opera Trionfo and conducted by Benoit Debrock. The direction was by Machteld van Bronkhorst and the graphic design by Arianne Smidt.

Its worldpremiere took place in the Lucent Theater in The Hague on November 27th, 2003.
